Rise & Fall of Tides Residency Recipients Announced
FIA is pleased to announce that Zak Leazer and Zoë Hitzig are the recipients of the inaugural Rise & Fall of Tides residency.
Zak Leazer is a researcher and master’s candidate in architecture at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design. His research focuses on architecture and fashion as stages of identity construction and ecological speculation.
Zoë Hitzig is a PhD candidate in economics at Harvard, and author of two books of poetry, Mezzanine (Ecco, 2020) and Not Us Now (Changes, 2024). Her poems have appeared in the Paris Review, The New Yorker, Harper’s, London Review of Books, and elsewhere, and she currently serves as poetry editor of The Drift.
This residency will provide an opportunity for the selected resident(s) to live and work on Fogo Island, Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada for a period of six weeks, up to three months. A budget of up to 25,000 CAD will be provided to support travel to Fogo Island and a new project or the development of an existing project for the selected resident(s). Alongside the project budget, the resident will be provided with accommodation, as well as a vehicle on Fogo Island. Successful candidates will be responsible for acquiring the necessary visas and driver’s license permissions, Fogo Island Arts will help facilitate this process. The residency period will commence from late 2023.
