From 2013 onwards line kramer and marjolijn kok formed the artist’s collective THE KOKRA FAMILY. This family developed from a long queer relationship. One of their goals is researching the concept of family in all its facets and developing critical art works. They see family as a broad concept and lately are focussing on the material aspects. No artistic medium is avoided, and humour and respect are key. Simultaneously both members of the family developed their own work on residencies abroad. Meanwhile the urge to work together became, however, clearer and in 2016 they transformed their individual studios into a shared workspace. In their work the material aspect of the family became more important, and they’ve made several inventories. These inventories are based on text, photographs and digital drawings. They always work through an intersectional and political angle which tries to imagine other ways of living together.
