It is with heavy hearts that we announce a temporary postponement of FIA residencies and programs in order to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our artists, staff and community, as well as our viability as an organization over the long-term.
The unprecedented and devastating social and economic impacts of COVID-19 are felt by all of us, and perhaps more keenly so by artists and cultural workers, and small communities like Fogo Island. This is an especially difficult time, but we at FIA remain strong in our conviction that art is key to offering new perspectives on issues of vital importance. As we navigate these uncharted waters, we have the opportunity to work together to envision a brighter future.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected] Please note, however, that due to our reduced staffing capacity we will be slower in responding to any inquiries. For all those who applied to the 2020 Open Call, please visit our website. We’re also thinking of ways to keep our communities engaged through digital platforms, so please stay tuned and visit our website for further news in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, thank you for your ongoing support and interest in our programs. We look forward to healthier times ahead and to resuming our work with renewed enthusiasm and purpose as soon as possible.
