Fogo Island Arts and the New York Academy of Art (NYAA) are pleased to announce the renewal of the Eric Fischl Fogo Island Arts Internship program, a partnership made possible through the generous support of artist and NYAA Senior Critic Eric Fischl. Established in 2018, the Eric Fischl Fogo Island Arts Internship has offered four current or former NYAA students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in arts administration through an internship with Fogo Island Arts.
As participants in the Eric Fischl Fogo Island Arts Internship program, two young artists join the team as support staff in the offices of Fogo Island Arts each year, contributing to day-to-day program operations and communications over a three-month period. The interns receive a stipend and are provided with housing, transportation, and studio space, in addition to exceptional opportunities to engage with FIA’s international artists-in-residence and community members across Fogo Island.
The partnership between FIA, Fischl, and the NYAA reflects a shared understanding of the need for expanded educational opportunities within the contemporary art world, as well as the critical role that art and education play in enriching our communities.
Applications will be open to NYAA students and alumni on the NYAA website in early 2020.
