Observations with Geologist Peter Croal
Friday, 18 August 2023, 10am | Fogo Island Red Weather Station
Friday, 18 August 2023, 6pm  | Fogo Island Inn, Cinema

Join us for a day with geologist-in-residence, Peter Croal. Commencing with a morning hike to the Fogo Island Red Weather Station, an operational weather station created by artist, Liam Gillick. On this hike, Peter will speak about the ways meteorological and geological data can inform our understanding of local changes to the climate.

Reconvening in the evening, Peter will host a discussion following the screening of Chasing Ice (2012) to delve into the compelling role that storytelling and documentation have in recording environmental changes in supporting scientific research.

Please be sure to dress appropriately for the morning hike (conditions on the day are available via the Weather Station). The hike will start at the Waterman’s Brook Trail in Fogo, look out for the trailhead sign that marks the meeting point!
